American Bully Pocket Class
Medium in length, deep through, broad skull, very pronounced cheek muscles, distinct stop, and high set ears.HEAD
The ears can be natural or cropped.
The eyes may be any color except albinism.
The nose, or muzzle, should be short to medium with a blocky upper side or slightly squared to fall away abruptly below the eyes. All nose colors are acceptable.
The jaws of the American Bully should be well defined.
The under jaw should be strong. The lips will be semi-close and even with some looseness accepted, but not preferred. The upper teeth will meet tightly outside the lower teeth in form or be scissor bite to be accepted.
The neck should be heavy, slightly arched, and tapering from shoulder to back of skull, compact in size, and should have minimal or no loose skin.
The shoulders will be strong and muscular with blade being wide and set wide, with good angulation, and well laid back.
The body will have well-sprung ribs, deep in rear with all ribs close together. The back will be fairly short to medium, with slight sloping from withers to rump or straight are accepted with gentle short slope at rump to base of tail but not desired in the compact size. The forelegs should be set rather wide apart to permit chest development and the chest should be deep and broad. Hindquarters should be well muscled, let down at hocks, turning neither in nor out, with a good sweep in the stifle, have medium angulation where the point of the rear feet line up vertically with the point of the butt.
The tail should be short to medium in comparison to size, low set, tapering to a fine point. Generally, when gently pulled down, the tip of the tail will meet at the point of the hock. When relaxed, the tail should resemble a water pump handle. Kinks and knots are faults, however, that is acceptable in the show ring, but not preferred.
The front legs should be straight, with large or round bones, pastern upright are preferred.
A slight outwards turn is accepted as long as the feet do not measure a 45 degree angle. The feet should be of moderate size, well arched, and compact.
The coat should be short, close, stiff to the touch, and glossy.
All colors and patterns are permissible except Merle.
There is no particular weight for this breed, but the weight should be in proportion to the body frame and should NOT reach the point where it is considered obese. Height for females should be under 16″ at withers, and males should be under 17″ at withers.
The gait should be effortless and powerful. The action must, however, be unrestrained, free and vigorous with powerful drive off the rear. These dogs are single trackers. When in motion they converge towards the center line.
Faults to be penalized but not disqualifications for showing are:
Overly Short tail
Pink or Albino eyes
Severe turn fronts
Severe turn to rears
Displaying or possessing aggressive behavior towards humans
Dogs that have been spayed or neutered
