23 Aug Mark Darwish welcomed as “Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed Director”
The Bull Breed Coalition Registry is thrilled to bring you the news that Mark Darwish has been chosen as our Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed Director. We are pleased to have someone who has such a strong background in Staffy Bulls on board.
Mark, who is happily married with three sons, says he started breeding, raising, training, and showing dogs in the early 1990s.
“I started with Rottweilers first, and they’re a breed I’ll always have in my home,” he explains. “I’ve had several other breeds over the years, including Bulldogs for a short time.
“I always wanted a Staffordshire Bull Terrier but couldn’t find what I liked in our area,” says Mark. “In 2009, my wife Adriana and I decided to bring our first Staffy home from Indiana, Ginger. She was shown in AKC and she gave us our first Staffy litter.
“Since then we have owned, bred, and shown several Staffords to their AKC Championships and a Grand Championship. We have Bruce, who was the number one Staffy in AKC for 2013, and number two for 2014. Bruce is now retired at ten years of age.”
Mark and Adriana have competed in several dog registries besides AKC, including ABKC, IABCA, and UKC, where they championed several dogs.
“Currently, we have two Staffordshire Bull Terrier Champions and two Grand Champions in AKC. We strive to produce and train dogs that fit the breed standard the way it was originally created – with even temperaments and free from any health issues.
“Recently we added an Amstaff in our house, and we have the only Amstaff/APBT to receive not one, but two, BIS in the ABKC circuit. He’s also an AKC Grand Champion.
“We’ve had several SBT and AST dogs ranked in the top twenty in AKC over the last few years, some in the top five. We are members in good standing with the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of America (SBTCA) and the Staffordshire Terrier Club of America (STCA). The BBCR is our next venue.”
We appreciate Mark’s commitment to the BBCR and anticipate a spike in attendance at BBCR-sanctioned events, now that we have included the Staffordshire Bull Terrier as a BBCR recognized breed.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier will make its BBCR debut at the 2018 National Championship. We welcome all Staffy Bull pet lovers, breeders, fanciers, and enthusiasts to join in the celebration of the BBCR National Championship and the acceptance of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
